The Via Dinarica also known as Trans Dinarica — which combines some quiet asphalt roads, and mostly macadam and forest paths — is perfect for e-bike touring and provides an adventure and cultural corridor for active travelers who want to see new places on two wheels during the day and enjoy local cuisine every night.
The Via Dinarica provides a connection to cities, remote mountain villages, ancient traditions and incredible nature. On a combination of surfaces, which include single-track mountain bike trails, gravel, and some stretches of asphalt, the route highlights the region’s wide palette of landscapes: mountain passes; alpine lakes, deep canyons and rivers; and towns in the heart of the Dinaric Alps (which gives the network it’s name) and adjoining ranges. Equal parts adventure and culture, the Via Dinarica provides a rare lens onto this corner of southeastern Europe, which still possesses genuine authenticity rooted in the centuries-old, honor-bound tradition of welcoming guests with food, wine, and stories of the region.
What to bring:Appropriate shoes; warm clothes: fleece, rain jacket, socks; Bike gloves; sunglasses and sun cream; water bottle and snacks; enough battery life on your smartphone for the beautiful photos.
