A little information for the reader…
Krujë, is a town and a municipality in north central Albania. Located between Mount Krujë and the Ishëm River, the city is only 20 km north from the capital of Albania, Tirana. The name of the city is related to the Albanian word kroi, krua, meaning “fountain” or “water source”. The museums of Krujë include the Skanderbeg Museum, located in the environs of the Krujë Castle, and the national ethnographic museum.
Gjirokastër, is a city in the south of Albania located in a valley between the Gjerë mountains and the Drino, at 300 metres above sea level. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, described as “a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate”. The city is overlooked by Gjirokastër Fortress, where the Gjirokastër National Folklore Festival is held every five years.
Meeting at your hotel at 8:30 and depart to the city of Krujë, that is 1 hour driving from Tirana. After arriving in Krujë, we will try a traditional krutan dessert. Then, a walk in the bazaar of handmade products of the city. Next, we will visit the museum of Kruje, Gjergj Kastriot Skëndërbeu. After that, we can have lunch, if you wish, with traditional dishes. Then we leave for the city of Berat where we will stay. Evening visit to the city of Berat. Free time.
After breakfast, we will visit the Castle of Berat, that lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes. Then we depart from Berat to the city of Gjirokastër, where we will stay. Free time in the evening in the museum area, also a walk to buy handmade products.
After breakfast, we will visit the Castle of Gjirokastër, visit the museums and the traditional houses of Gjirokastra which are cultural monuments. After lunch, we will travel back to Tirana.
